Khushi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan face backlash for their rampwalks at ICW

The internet seems to be collectively annoyed at young Bollywood starlets stealing the limelight at the Hyundai India Couture Week this year. From stiff and staccato walks to a distinct lack of finesse when it comes to carrying designer clothes on the runway, Khushi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan are being put through the wringer for failing to match the standards set by professional supermodels.

Last night, Khushi walked for Rimzim Dadu, while Sara closed for couturier Aisha Rao, who debuted at the event this year. Despite exquisite embroidery and futuristic couture, the stars could not divert attention from their gait to the ensembles on display.

“Please focus on acting and leave this task to models,” commented a user underneath a video documenting Sara’s walk, while another left a scathing, “Walking in the garden” under Khushi’s stint.

Rimzim Dadu’s latest collection Oxynn represents modern couture woven from memory and metal. Inspired by Gujarat’s Banjara tribes, it reimagines traditional crafts like Patola and mirror work through sculptural silhouettes and signature materials—steel, metallic wires, and custom textiles. “In deep, burnished tones, Oxynn reflects quiet strength and the nomadic spirit. Rooted, raw, and futuristic,” read FDCI’s Instagram post.

The young Kapoor sister had slipped into a metallic grey see-through textured skirt, paired with a halter neck blouse, diamond emerald jewels and a big, bouncy blowout to pull the look together. A sharp cat eyeliner and smokey shimmer shadow accentuated her eyes, while sky high black stilettoes added drama to her ensemble.

Sara, on the other hand, twirled around the ramp in a champagne-hued lehenga set with intricate embroidery in pastel tones. Barely any makeup, soft waves in her hair, and jewel-studded earrings were her accessories of choice.

Describing her outfit, the Metro..In Dino star said, “It’s young, it’s fun, it’s colourful, it’s wild at heart.” According to her, it’s “very important to wear the outfit, and not let the outfit wear you.” Speaking to Vogue India, Sara shared that she likes to be as comfortable as possible whenever she steps out.

Aisha Rao’s debut collection was a sanctuary of banana leaves, lotus blooms, and palms, reimagined through signature appliqué and surrealist storytelling. The collection “Wild at Heart” can be best described as a blend of romantic silhouettes with molten metallics rose golds, berry tones, champagne hues designed for those unafraid of reinvention.

“Sharp yet soft, the collection features dreamy florals, theatrical blazers, architectural tailoring, and textures rich with memory. A love letter to the wild, and a call to live louder,” read the collection note.

With one more day to go, all eyes are on JJ Valaya’s show as India Couture Week comes to a close tonight. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for us!
