Srinagar, July 9: President Droupadi Murmu Tuesday expressed her sympathies with the families of the soldiers who were killed in the Kathua terror attack on Monday.

She said that the attack from terrorists was a cowardly one and deserved condemnation and firm counter-measures.

Taking to micro-blogging site X, President Murmu said: “The attack on a convoy of Army personnel in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir by terrorists is a cowardly act that deserves condemnation and firm counter-measures. My sympathies are with the families of the bravehearts who laid down their lives in this ongoing war against terror in all its forms. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

Notably five soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were killed and five others were injured when a group of terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles on patrolling duty near Badnota village in Kathua district on Monday afternoon.

The attack occurred within a month after two terrorists were killed in a Hiranagar encounter which also claimed the life of a CRPF man.
