Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (Jodhpur Discom) has recovered more than ₹1.51 crore in 580 electricity theft cases during the period from April to June 2025. This was disclosed in a meeting of vigilance officers chaired by the Managing Director, Dr. Bhanwar Lal.
During the meeting, Dr. Bhanwar Lal gave clear instructions to all officials to take strict action against power theft. He said, electricity theft is not just an economic loss, it is also an injustice to honest consumers. Any negligence at any level will not be tolerated.
He specifically instructed the vigilance officers to investigate each complaint impartially. “It is important to listen to consumers, understand their perspective, and draw conclusions based on facts so that no innocent person is harassed and no guilty person is spared,” he said.
According to the report for the three-month period, the highest number of actions were taken in the Jodhpur Rural Circle, with 142 cases, leading to the recovery of ₹53.90 lakh. This was followed by Bikaner Rural with 133 cases and ₹21.81 lakh recovered, and Bikaner City with 71 cases and ₹22.31 lakh recovered. Similar enforcement drives were carried out in Pali, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Barmer, Jalore, Jaisalmer, and Churu.
Discom officials stated that this campaign will continue on a regular basis and will expand further in the coming months. Consumers were also urged to report any incidents of electricity theft without hesitation to help ensure a transparent and just energy system.
Dr. Bhanwar Lal firmly stated during the meeting that no leniency will be shown towards electricity thieves. The objective of Jodhpur Discom is to provide high-quality electricity to its consumers, and all officials must work with utmost seriousness to achieve this goal.
During the vigilance meeting, Dr. Bhanwar Lal ordered the suspension of Arun Kumar Bodana, Assistant Engineer (Vigilance), Sirohi, and issued a charge sheet to Gopalram Saran, Assistant Engineer (Vigilance), Phalodi.
