A new feather has been added to J&K Police in the shape of Pink Patrol in Jammu. To ensure immediate assistance to girls/women in distress situations, a specialized patrolling unit “Pink Patrol” was launched by ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain on the eve of International Women’s Day this year.
In continuation to that on 05-05-2024, 03 two wheelers have been added to the Pink Patrol unit. These two wheelers were flagged off by Incharge SHO Women Police Station Jammu in the presence of SP City North and Dy.SP Hqrs Jammu.
SP City North Jammu briefed about the objective and functioning of Pink Patrol. The main objective of the Pink Patrol unit is to build confidence measures among women folk of Jammu City. Initially One Innova fitted with all necessary equipment and tools and was provided for Pink Patrol and now today 03 scooty have been added to strengthen the Pink Patrol unit .It remains functional in two shifts i.e 7 am to 3 pm and 3 pm to 12 am. In each shift 5 lady Police Personnel will be deployed, one Incharge and 04 others. First shift will cover Gandhi Nagar College, Dogra Chowk, Jewel Chowk, Shallamar Road, GGM Science College, Commerce College and Parade college whereas in 2nd shift the area covered will be Gole Market Gandhi Nagar, Bahu Plaza, Railway Station and other busy areas.
Speaking on the occasion he also revealed that one dedicated helpline number 9906310101 has also been launched for listening to the complainants of women folk. He further told that women can lodge complaint through WhatsApp as well on above mentioned number.
