Jammu, June 4: Senior BJP leader and union minister Dr Jitendra Singh Tuesday took out a grand road show after he was declared elected from Udhampur parliamentary constituency for the third time.
Speaking to the media, after receiving the “Certificate of Election” to the 18th Lok Sabha from Udhampur constituency from Returning Officer Rakesh Minhas in Kathua after being declared winner, Dr Jitendra said, “I owe my gratitude to people of this constituency who have given me an opportunity to serve for the third time. I would not disappoint them and would continue to work for development and the well-being of my people, who have reposed their trust in me.”
The victory procession reached Mookerjee Chowk where he paid homage to the BJP ideologue Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. “I’ve come here as this is the place which reminds us of our duties to our people and this nation. I’ll rededicate myself to the development of the people of this constituency. During our previous tenures under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, development reached all those obscure corners as well where the previous governments never focussed. We’ll continue to widen the expanse of development in our new tenure as well. Journey of development will have no hiccups,” he said.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate Chowdhary Lal Singh, who lost to Dr Jitendra, in a brief message to media, while conceding his defeat, said, “I am thankful to the people of Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency who voted for me in such a large number. Though I lost, I’m grateful to people. My preparations after the announcement of my candidature with the support of people, my electoral fight proved the love and faith they have in me. We will bounce back in the J&K assembly elections.”
