Rajouri, Jun 6: Eight villagers with diarrhea and related health issues of gastroenteritis have so far been hospitalised in Rajouri Government Medical College, while 30 patients have been treated at the site by a mobile health team after spread of infection due to suspected water contamination in a remote hamlet near Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
The hamlet Kotli in Bagla Panchayat is located near Line of Control (LoC) with majority of families are nomad.
Locals claimed that members of a family fell ill few days ago followed by illness among other families in last 48 hours with all the people initially complained of diarrhea followed by dehydration and severe weakness. “Almost nine people are presently under treatment in Rajouri hospital and many other people are also not feeling well.” they said. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri, Dr Manohar Lal Rana said that this is suspected to be a water contamination infection and teams have lifted samples from water sources of area that primarily include a natural well from where most of the families use to fetch water.
