India is set to host the Asia Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAC-AIG) meeting and workshop from 28–31 October 2025 for the first time, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said on Saturday.
The four-day event, organised by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on behalf of the ministry, will be inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu.
The annual APAC-AIG meeting, conducted under the framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), brings together member states from the Asia-Pacific region and global aviation bodies to strengthen cooperation and share expertise on aircraft accident and incident investigations.
What can we expect?
This year’s event in India is expected to see participation from around 90 representatives from ICAO, member states, and regional accident investigation authorities. The discussions will cover key aspects of aircraft accident investigation processes, methodologies, and reporting standards.
The two-day workshop, scheduled for 28–29 October, will focus on technical and procedural topics related to accident investigations, with participation from officials of AAIB, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and international experts.
The main APAC-AIG meeting will follow on 30–31 October, during which representatives from ICAO and Asia-Pacific countries will deliberate on enhancing regional collaboration, sharing best practices, and improving the overall investigation capabilities across member nations.
According to the ministry, the forum aims to promote knowledge exchange, encourage harmonisation of investigation procedures, and foster mutual assistance between investigation agencies in the region to strengthen aviation safety.
