Husband-wife duo arrested with heroin in Jammu

Jammu, Nov 18: Police, as a part of a determined and strategic drive to clamp down on the rising threat of narcotics in the region, Tuesday apprehended a husband-wife duo – known drug peddlers- with a significant quantity of heroin in Bishnah area of Jammu district.

Police said that the operation was conducted by a vigilant team from Police Station Bishnah, led by SHO (Bishnah) Inspector Rakesh Singh Jamwal and PSI Zahid Ahmad.

“The operation resulted in the arrest of Amjad Khan alias Taiya, son of Alam Din and his wife, Shamshad Akhter alias Putti from the suspected drug hotspot of Sakinderpur Kothey Bishnah. Their arrest led to recovery of approximately 22.45 grams heroin like substance from their possession,” Police stated.

A case, in this connection, was registered under FIR No 129/2025, in accordance with Sections 8, 21,22 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and a detailed investigation was launched.

“The Police are currently pursuing leads to uncover both the backward and forward links of the accused, which may include suppliers and other individuals connected to the drug network. This investigation aims to dismantle the wider chain of narcotic distribution operating in and around the region. The arrest underscores the police department’s continued efforts to root out the drug trade and protect the community from its harmful impact,” it was stated.

The Police also appealed to the citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drugs in their locality.
