This will be followed by Chillai Bacha (baby winter), a 10-day period before the gradual transition into spring.
Meanwhile, the fresh western disturbances is likely to bring snow in J&K from Saturday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir as two new Western Disturbances (WDs) are set to become active on February 1 and February 3.
The IMD said these weather systems are expected to impact the region until February 5, particularly affecting the hilly areas with fresh snowfall.
