High School Mandigam holds workshop on citizenship skills, constitutional values

Baramulla, Feb 18: A day-long workshop Citizenship Skills and Constitutional Values was organised at PM Shri Boys High School Mandigam.

The event was attended by students and teachers besides the members of the Village Education Committee (VEC) and civil society.

The event aimed to educate and inspire students about the importance of citizenship, constitutional values, and their role in building a just and inclusive society.

The workshop was conducted under the leadership of the head of the school Muhammad Shafi Bhat.

The workshop began with a warm welcome by Irfan Majeed Bhat who emphasised the significance of understanding constitutional values and citizenship skills in shaping socially responsible, intellectually enlightened, spiritually profound citizens.

Assistant Professor at GDC Dangiwacha, Riyaz Ahmad Wani was the chief guest at the occasion while Advocate Sibtain Geelani was the guest of the honour.

In his address, Wani emphasised the importance of citizenship skills in the contemporary world.

He highlighted the role of education in fostering responsible citizenship besides the need to uphold democratic values and respect diversity.

He also spoke about the importance of active participation in community and nation-building.

Advocate Geelani in her address spoke on the constitutional values that form the foundation of India’s democracy.

She spoke about the significance of the Indian constitution in safeguarding citizens’ rights and the role of youth in promoting justice, equality, and fraternity.

She also highlighted real-life examples of how constitutional principles can be applied to address societal challenges.

Her engaging presentation left a lasting impression on the audience, emphasizing the practical relevance of constitutional knowledge.

The workshop included interactive sessions where students participated in group discussions and question-answers on constitutional values.

The head of the school, Muhammad Shafi Bhat delivered the vote of thanks at the occasion.

He said the school staff was committed to nurturing informed and responsible citizens who contribute positively to society.
