HDFC Life Insurance faces ₹3.09 cr demand under GST, Legal News, ET LegalWorld


HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited received a GST Order on December 13, 2024, from the Assistant Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise, Patna Central Division, Patna.

The Life Insurance Company has received a Tax demand and penalty of ₹1.54 crore and ₹1.55 crore respectively.

The GST order relates to the period from July 1, 2017, to March 31, 2021.

The order is issued on the grounds of alleged excess availment of input tax credit due to a mismatch between GSTR3B vs GSTR2A; and alleged short reversal of proportionate input tax credit towards exempt supplies and towards common services attributable to exempted supplies.

“The said Order is appealable before the Appellate Authority. The Company will file its appeal within the specified period,” HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited said in an exchange filing.
