Justice K. Lakshman of Telangana High Court on Thursday directed the Punjagutta police of Hyderabad not to arrest former police officer P. Radha Kishan Rao till February 12 in a criminal case registered against him.

Radha Kishan Rao was the second accused in the sensational telephone tapping case registered by the Punjagutta police. He was recently granted bail by the High Court. While he was in prison following the arrest in that case, a person G. Chakradhar Goud filed a complaint with the Punjagutta police alleging that Radha Kishan Rao (while serving as Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police during BRS government) illegally detained him at the behest of former Minister T. Harish Rao.

Based on this complaint, a First Information Report was filed under different sections of the Indian Penal Code. The charges included criminal intimidation, conspiracy and extortion. Mr. Harish Rao’s name figured as the first accused in the FIR. He moved the High Court and secured order not to be arrested till February 12.

Advocate Uma Maheshwar Rao, presenting arguments before the Court, said that Radha Kishan Rao was being falsely implicated in the case. The content of the complaint was similar to that of the telephone tapping case. He argued that two separate cases cannot be registered on the basis of same charge. The Judge issued notice to the complainant Chakdradhar Goud directing him to respond to the same by February 12.
