GANDHINAGAR: After the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) sent guidelines to states to have their own Global Capability Centres (GCC) policy to push new-age technology-based industries, the Gujarat government has begun work on its comprehensive policy.
MeitY is expected to provide special incentives. Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have already unveiled their respective policies.
A source in the state govt said, “To enhance diverse employment opportunities and attract global players, the state govt, in accordance with Govt of India guidelines, is formulating a new policy for promoting GCCs. We are analyzing policies and models implemented by different countries and states whilst drafting the most advantageous policy for Gujarat. Along with Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot, we envision GCC expansion to smaller cities for balanced development.”
A source added, “Considering our strengths in fintech through GIFT City, healthcare and manufacturing sectors, we anticipate substantial response in development of GCCs across the state.”
