GMC Srinagar urges to act against ‘miracle cure’ quackery

Srinagar Jan 23: The Head of the Pediatric Department at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has sought intervention of the higher ups to take action against the quackery to protect public health and safety.

In an official communication addressed to the Principal and Dean Government Medical College Srinagar, HoD Pediatrics GMC Srinagar urged that there was a dire need to take some strong measures against the practice of quackery.

“With profound reverence and humble submission it is to request your august self to protect public health and safety, we need to take some strong measures against the practice of quackery,” the official communication reads.

It further reads that during the past few years there have been several cases of Acute Liver Failure (ALF), who were previously discharged from this hospital (GMC Srinagar).

“After leaving the hospital, they went to some place in Dara Harwan to get miracle cures, wherein they get some unproven medical treatments and some complimentary therapies and land in ICU with ALF and die,” the official communication reads.

The HoD Pediatrics has urged the Principal GMC Srinagar to take all possible necessary measures against such unqualified individuals “to safeguard future generations.”

A copy of the communication has been sent to Medical Superintendent Government Pediatric Hospital Bemina for information.
