GMC Srinagar to organise Int’l conference on Diabetes in Elderly MMFDIACON-2025

Srinagar, Aug 24: Department of Endocrinology, Super Speciality Hospital, GMC Srinagar and Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on Ageing (CISA), Moul Mouj Foundation (MMF), is all set to hold the 1st Annual International Interdisciplinary Endocrinology Conference–MMFDIACON-2025 on August 30 at the auditorium of GMC Srinagar.

The conference will focus on the theme “Diabetes and Its Complications in the Elderly: An Interdisciplinary Approach.”

The first-ever interdisciplinary conference in Kashmir on diabetes in the elderly marks one year of Moul Mouj Foundation’s healthcare services for seniors, offering free consultations, medicines and geriatric support. MMF has also advanced academics and research through the establishment of CISA.

In a statement, Prof. (Dr) Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal GMC Srinagar and Patron of the Conference, said the increase in the ageing population and its associated health challenges make interdisciplinary dialogue imperative, and that the conference aims to bring experts from diverse fields together to present evidence-based advances in geriatric care, with a special focus on diabetes and its complications across multiple organ systems.

The conference will feature experts of national and international repute from endocrinology, geriatric medicine, neurology, nephrology, cardiology, preventive medicine, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, psychiatry, surgery and many other disciplines, alongside free paper and poster presentations by doctors and postgraduate students from Kashmir’s medical colleges and JLNM Hospital. A key highlight will be the release of the Moul Mouj Foundation Impact Report, showcasing its year-long work in geriatric care, academics, research, and advocacy, along with the felicitation of distinguished seniors from diverse walks of life for their lifetime contributions.

The Organising Committee is led by Dr. M. Hayat Bhat (Organising Chairman and HOD Dept of Endocrinology, SSH), Dr. Mir Shahnawaz (Co-Organising Chairman), Dr Zubair Saleem (Organising Secretary), Dr. Saleem Baba (Treasurer) and Dr. Abid Hussain (Scientific Secretary).

With rich academic sessions, interactive panels and opportunities for young PG and superspeciality students and researchers, MMFDIACON-2025, accredited with 4 CME credit hours by the J&K Medical Council, promises to set a benchmark in advancing interdisciplinary geriatric diabetes care in the region.
