Forest fire erupts along LoC in Balakote sector; landmine blasts triggered, no injuries reported

Poonch, Dec 07: A forest fire broke out early this morning along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Balakote sector, triggering multiple landmine blasts in the forward areas, officials said.

Official sources said the fire erupted on the zero line ahead of the fencing in the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the Indian Army. The blaze is believed to have originated from across the border.

During the forest fire, two to three landmines planted as part of the anti-infiltration grid detonated due to the rising flames. However, officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far.

“Forest fire has broken out ahead of the fence, and a couple of landmine explosions have occurred in the forward area. There are no casualties or injuries reported yet,” an official said. (KNC)
