Srinagar, Nov 14: The Finance Department of the Jammu and Kashmir government has extended the deadline for the physical verification of pensioners until November 30, 2024.
Overall, the verification exercise has seen appreciable cooperation from pensioners, with 2.28 lakh out of the total 2.43 lakh pensioners completing the process. However, despite repeated extensions, around 15,000 pensioners have still not responded.
To facilitate the verification, the government had earlier provided for home visits by treasury staff, with as many as 7,000 verifications conducted at the residences of pensioners. A video-based verification mechanism was also put in place for pensioners residing outside J&K.
