Fallen Chinar branch damages house in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad

Sopore, Feb 28: A residential house was damaged in Parraypora Watergam area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir, after a branch of Chinar fell on it amid fresh snowfall in the area, an official said. The house belongs to Taja Begum, wife of late Abdul Rahim Gojree of Parraypora Watergam, the official said.

ADC Sopore, SA Raina along with a team of the Revenue department reached the spot and assessed the estimated loss to the property.

An official said that there was fortunately no loss of life or injury in the incident. “The inmates of the house came out in time and fortunately every one of them is safe,” the official added. He said that there was one more branch of tree dangling,  which may prove fatal due to any natural calamity. Taking this into consideration, ADC directed the concerned tehsildar to take necessary action to avert any untoward incident in the area.
