Srinagar, Oct 28: In its continued resolve to eliminate drugs from the society and dismantle the infrastructure supporting illegal narcotics trade in the district, Srinagar Police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler and recovered substantial quantity of contraband narcotics from his possession.
A police official said that a police team from Police Post Noorbagh, while conducting routine naka checking at Waniyar Noorbagh, intercepted an e-Riksha bearing registration number JK01AV-0593 moving towards Safakadal.
During the search of the vehicle, 1500 grams of charas were recovered, he said.
Upon the personal search of the driver, an additional 70 grams of charas were recovered from his possession, official added.
The driver has been identified as Waheed Ahmad Zaroo, son of Mohd Ramzan Zaroo, resident of Gagarzoo Guzarbal Noorbagh.
In this connection, Case FIR No. 128/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Safakadal and the accused person has been arrested.
Further investigation into the case is going on, official added.
