Srinagar, Dec 17: A truck driver lost his life after a tree fell on his vehicle near Nachlana on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Tuesday, police said.
According to an official, the tree was uprooted due to a forest fire in the area. “The tree fell on a truck, killing the driver and injuring the helper,” the official said.
The deceased has been identified as Muzamil Gull Sheikh (38), son of Gul Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Hillar Shahabad in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. His body was shifted to SDH Banihal for legal formalities.
The injured helper, identified as Owais Ahmad, was also taken to SDH Banihal for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable, the official added.
