Devender Rana files nomination from Nagrota

Jammu, Sep 12: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Nagrota assembly constituency, Devender Singh Rana filed his nomination on Thursday.

BJP’s incharge J&K Ram Madhav, former union minister Anurag Thakur, and Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma were also present on the occasion.

A roadshow was also taken out on the occasion in which thousands of supporters and workers of the party participated.

The enthusiastic BJP workers and supporters raised pro-nationalist slogans while cheering for their leader.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana expressed his gratitude to the party’s high command for allowing him to serve the people again and exuded confidence that BJP would form the next government in J&K with a full majority.

He urged the party workers to spread awareness about the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government over the past 10 years and inform every citizen about the people-friendly policies and welfare schemes of the BJP government.

Rana asserted that this was testing time for Jammu.

“This election will decide if Jammu will be able to end the hegemony of Kashmir and assert its political authority or not. We, the people of Jammu, will have to ensure that the route to power should flow from this region,” he made a clarion call to the people of Jammu.

Rana warned against, what he called “nefarious designs of Congress-National Conference combine to change the nomenclature of Shankaracharya Hill and Hari Parbat.”

“This matter relates to our faith. Don’t do any mischief,” Rana cautioned.

He reiterated that the party would not allow Congress and NC to scrap reservations granted to Paharis, OBCs, Dalits, Gujjars, and others.

“Dare not touch it (reservation); Jammu in unison will oppose it,” he said.

Rana described these elections as historic, saying the Jammu region would decide the next government for J&K, which would be inclusive of peace, harmony, development, progress, and empowerment of youth, farmers, poor, and marginalised.

“We are Dogras and the essence of our heritage, deeply intertwined with our rich history, vibrant culture, and cherished traditions, serves as the bedrock of our identity and Jammu’s honour and Dogra pride will never be compromised,” he said.

Rana thanked the people of Nagrota constituency for reposing faith in him to represent this assembly segment.

He said that he was humbled by the love and affection being bestowed upon him by the people of the Nagrota constituency and pledged to work for their welfare, the development of the area, and job creation for the youth in a big way.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP’s J&K election incharge Ram Madhav said that the BJP freed the people of J&K from the shackles of Article 370 that retarded its growth, progress, and development for nearly seven decades.

Exuding confidence that the BJP would register a massive victory in the elections, Madhav said that while the Prime Minister made 10 ministers from Jammu after the 2014 elections in J&K, at this point all the ministers would be from Jammu.

Madhav expressed hope that sagacious voters of J&K would reject the politics being pursued by the NC, PDP, PC, and now Engineer Rashid’s party, as they represent the regressive mindset of 1947 that caused a huge dent to J&K ethos and retarded development.

“On the contrary, PM Modi’s vision for Naya Kashmir is inclusive and opportunities for all as per Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas Sabka Prayas,” he said.
