LUCKNOW: At the second edition of the ET Digital UP Conclave, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak emphasized the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) and information technology in propelling the state towards becoming a digital-first region.
Speaking under the theme “Towards a Digital Future: Empowering Governance through Technology,” Pathak highlighted AI as a means of boosting productivity rather than a threat to employment. He praised the impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Direct Benefit Transfers scheme for increasing transparency and efficiency in governance.
Pathak noted Uttar Pradesh’s progress from a past of underdevelopment to becoming an IT and innovation hub, exporting software worth over Rs 75,000 crore annually and employing over 3.55 lakh people. He credited improved law and order for attracting global tech investments and urged youth to use digital platforms for learning and development rather than mere social interaction.
Calling for collaboration among government, private sector, and civil society, Pathak encouraged a broader integration of AI in education, healthcare, and research to build a strong, digitally empowered Uttar Pradesh.
