Reasi, Nov 21: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Paul Mahajan and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Paramvir Singh Thursday jointly reviewed the security of labour camps and railway infrastructure in Bakkal, Dugga, Reasi and Sawlakote in the district.
The review aimed to ensure the protection of non-local employees, workers and labourers involved in ongoing railway infrastructure development projects. The duo inspected labour camps in Bakkal, Dugga, Sawlakote and railway infrastructure in Reasi, Bakkal and Sawlakote.
During the visit, DC and SSP interacted with the Project Manager of tunnel construction projects, discussing various security-related concerns and inspecting the site’s security measures. The manager of the tunnel construction company was asked to raise infrastructure on both the eastern and western terminals of the tunnel for proper guarding of the construction site area by security personnel.
Moreover, the project manager was also asked to install CCTV cameras, siren alarm system, besides fencing of the labourer colony and employees colony area and raising of heights to ensure safety and protection of employees and labourers of the construction project.
Officials stated that security arrangements had already been made for guarding the residential area and construction site of the non-local labourers or workers in Bakkal, Dugga, Sawalkote area of Reasi. Police officers were paying regular visits to take all security measures to ensure the safety and protection of non-local labourers and employees working with ongoing railway infrastructure projects in the district.
“This joint review demonstrates the district administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of workers and infrastructure in Reasi,” officials added.
Visit was conducted two days after the Union Minister of State for Railways reviewed the security situation at Chenab bridge, Anji bridge and Reasi Railway Station besides other infrastructure.
He had also announced that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was likely to inaugurate the Vande Bharat train connecting Kashmir to New Delhi on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link in January, 2025.
