Kargil, Aug 1: As many as 20 mobile phones were recovered by the cyber cell of the police in Kargil.
A police official said the operation was carried out after receiving multiple applications and reports about the missing and stolen mobile phones from the general public.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil Shree Ram said a dedicated technical team of the Cyber Police cell in Kargil under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Kargil Nitin Yadav traced 20 missing mobile phones of various makes and models worth lakhs of rupees.
“These devices have been returned to their rightful owners,” he said.
He said during the last two months Cyber Cell of Kargil police recovered 23 missing or stolen mobile-phones worth Lakhs.
“This initiative was carried out under the instructions of Incharge DIG Ladakh Vikas Kumar, who directed the district police to conduct a drive for returning lost mobile phones to their owners,” SSP Kargil Ram R said.
He added that the campaign was implemented under the leadership of ASP Kargil Nitin Yadav.
SSP Kargil lauded the dedicated efforts of Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ali of the Cyber Cell saying his team played a great role in tracing and recovering the lost devices.
“In the last two months June and July we successfully recovered 20 lost mobile phones, including five that were traced from other districts such as Ramban, Poonch, Kangan, and Leh,” SSP Kargil said while handing over the devices to their owners.
He further emphasized that District Police Kargil will continue to remain at the forefront in serving the public and strengthening community policing.
