Jammu, Dec 22: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra Sunday asserted that Congress would honour the party veterans in order to reconnect with the roots (of party).
Acting on the recommendation of the тАЬFact Finding CommitteeтАЭ headed by JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, he asked the top party leaders to тАЬidentity all such leaders of stature, whose remembrance should be observed every year in order to reconnect with the roots of the party.тАЭ
Karra stated that the party would observe the days of all veteran leaders who тАЬplayed an important role in their life in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir and remained loyal to the party.тАЭ
In this connection, JKPCC chief asked the PCC headquarters and all district presidents to shortlist the names of all such prominent leaders in their respective districts to be remembered on their birth or death anniversary, in respective district or constituency headquarters.
The тАЬFact Finding CommitteeтАЭ, which was formed to probe into CongressтАЩ debacle in the assembly elections, recommended that the party should reconnect with the roots by remembering the past leaders of great contributions, at different levels right from PCC to block levels and also honouring the veteran leaders who retired from active politics.
тАЬThis will reconnect the party with the roots and give the families of original Congressmen, a sense of belongingness with the party,тАЭ the Committee recommended.
Accepting the recommendations of the Committee, in this regard, the JKPCC chief issued instructions.
тАЬEarlier only a few leaders of J&K, on a pick and choose basis, would be remembered,тАЭ it was noted with concern.
