Congress MP from Tiruvallur Sasikanth Senthil on Monday (September 1, 2025) night announced that he has decided to temporarily withdraw his hunger strike temporarily, accepting the appeal of his leaders.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal urged him to accept their request to give up the hunger strike, Mr. Senthil said.
In a statement, Mr. Senthil said doctors and leaders from INDIA bloc, friends from various political parties insisted that end his hunger strike considering his health condition. “This struggle has given me the opportunity to bring the gravity of this issue to the attention of the people. To carry forward the long battle for students’ educational rights with even greater vigor, I am temporarily ending my hunger strike, respecting the appeals of eveyone,” he said.
The Union BJP government has been destroying the educational rights and dreams of the people of Tamil Nadu, particularly its students, Mr. Senthil charged.
