R S Pura, Dec 15: Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla on Sunday said the party would always stand for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and it was committed to restoration of statehood.
He said development, dignity and peace in J&K were the top priorities of Congress. This was stated by the former Minister during public interactions in different parts of RS Pura Jammu South constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that the government should gear up men and machinery to conduct Panchayat, Municipality elections.
“Unemployment is increasing so much. Lakhs of vacancies were vacant here in J&K but the previous government didn’t fill them. The vacancies that were filled were made temporary, on daily wages, on contract basis. Price rise is also happening. Congress agenda has always been the restoration of Statehood, development, dignity and peace in J&K,” he said.
“Any laws which do not safeguard the interests and rights of people of J&K will be unacceptable to Congress,” he remarked.
Bhalla expressed the confidence that the new government would fulfill its electoral promises which would be beneficial for all sections of society.
He said one common concern of the people from various districts raised was the rising electricity cost. “Many elderly citizens are awaiting their old-age pensions, which have been delayed for months. We hope the new government will release their pension installments and increase the amount as well,” said Bhalla.
Urging people to support Congress in the upcoming Panchayat and Municipality elections, Bhalla said, “You have witnessed how BJP and their leaders have deceived you with false promises and empty slogans over the last ten years. But Congress has a straightforward and transparent agenda. We do not make pretentious statements but instead commit to working towards achieving peace, prosperity, and development in Jammu and Kashmir. Give us a fair chance to serve you in upcoming elections. Congress will not let you down.”
