Srinagar, Dec 18: The Kashmir Valley continues to reel under freezing temperatures, with the Meteorological Centre Srinagar predicting no significant change in weather conditions until December 26.
Srinagar recorded a slight improvement in the minimum temperature on Wednesday night at minus 4.5°C, up from minus 5.3°C the previous night, but still 2.5°C below normal for this time of year.
Pahalgam, the coldest spot in the valley, saw a marginal rise in temperature, recording minus 5.8°C compared to minus 6.8°C on Tuesday. Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded minus 5.0°C, slightly warmer than the previous night’s minus 6.0°C but still 2.7°C below normal.
Kokernag experienced a sharp drop in temperature, registering minus 2.8°C, down from minus 5.7°C the previous night, and 0.7°C below normal. Gulmarg, the famed ski resort, saw its minimum temperature rise to minus 5.0°C, aligning with the average for the region.
Kupwara recorded a further dip to minus 4.4°C from minus 5.6°C on Tuesday, 1.7°C below normal for the border district.
