Jammu, Mar 29: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, joined by the Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar and the Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, Saturday led the wreath laying ceremony of Head Constable Jagbir Singh at Police Headquarters, Gulshan Ground.
Jagbir, who was the In-charge Police Post Sufain in Kathua, was among four J&K Police personnel killed in Kathua encounter.
The wreath laying ceremony of other three personnel was held at District Police Lines, Kathua, late Friday evening.
The bodies of all four J&K Police personnel were retrieved from the encounter site on Friday.
CM, DyCM, and the DGP were joined by senior officers of civil, Police administration, CRPF, BSF, and the Army in the wreath laying ceremony at Gulshan Ground on Saturday where they also paid tributes to SgCt Tariq by laying wreaths at his coffin containing mortal remains.
The Deputy Chief Minister, while speaking to the media after the wreath laying ceremony, said that the terror activities in J&K were the result of conspiracies hatched by the neighbouring nation.
“Their conspiracies to weaken India never worked in the past and would not even in future. Today we all are witnessing that the country (Pakistan) has destroyed itself but has not learnt any lesson. We just hope that a good sense prevails there,” Choudhary said.
Later, the last rites of all four J&K Police personnel – HC Jagbir Singh, SgCt Tariq Ahmed, SgCt Balvinder Singh Chib and SgCt Jaswant Singh were performed at their native places at Akhnoor, Reasi, Kana Chak Kathua, and Londi Morh in Kathua.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina along with local party MLAs attended the last rites of SgCt Tariq Ahmed in Reasi.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi range Rayees Muhammad Bhat attended the last rites of SgCt Tariq Ahmed.
