The Department of Post is set to launch digital services in Chennai’s northern region with the rollout of its next-generation APT (Automated Postal Operations) application, according to an official press release.
The technological upgrade, aimed at enhancing efficiency and customer experience, will be implemented across all post offices in the Chennai City North Division starting August 4, 2025.
The new APT application is designed to reflect the department’s commitment to delivering smarter, more efficient, and future-ready postal services, the statement said.
“To enable a seamless and secure transition to this advanced digital platform, a planned downtime has been scheduled on August 2, 2025. No public transactions will be carried out at the post offices,” the statement added.
The implementation of the upgrade will result in temporary suspension of services, necessary to facilitate data migration, system validations, and configuration processes, ensuring that the new system goes live smoothly and efficiently.
The Department of Post has requested customers to plan their visits to post offices in the Chennai City North Division in advance to avoid inconvenience.
