The free cancer screening camp organised by Rotary Woods in Murnad on Saturday highlighted the importance of proactive healthcare in combating diseases like cancer. The event was inaugurated by district additional superintendent of police Barike Dinesh.
The event emphasised the significance of regular health check-ups and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Dinesh said that health should be treated with the same reverence as a temple. He advocated for regular exercise, proper nutrition, and routine medical screenings.
The camp, a collaborative effort between Rotary Woods, the Kodagu Drug Dealers ‘Association, Murnad gram panchayat, and Bharat Cancer Hospital, Mysuru, aimed to raise awareness about cancer and provide early detection opportunities.
Ambekal Jeevan Kushalappa, president of the Kodagu Drug Dealers’ Association, said these health camps celebrated the potential for better health and increased self-confidence among cancer patients.
Anil HT, vice-president of the Rotary District 3181 Public Image Committee, spoke about Rotary’s global commitment to health and education.
Kanturu Murnad gram panchayat president Kushan Rai praised Rotary Woods for initiating the first cancer screening programme in Munard, and pledged continued support for social service activities. Rotary Woods president Kiran Kunder announced plans to extend health camps to more rural areas.
