The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Prime Minister Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), with a total outlay of ₹24,000 crore over six years starting 2025-26, aimed at improving agricultural productivity and resilience across the country.
The scheme, announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, will be implemented in 100 districts and is expected to benefit 1.7 crore farmers, the government said.
According to an official statement, the programme will converge 36 central schemes, focusing exclusively on agriculture and allied sectors, and will be based on the Aspirational District Programme framework.
Districts will be selected using three key indicators– low agricultural productivity, low cropping intensity, and limited credit flow. Every state and Union Territory will have at least one district under the scheme, with the number of districts allocated based on their respective share of net cropped area and operational holdings, the statement said.
