Army holds joint disaster management exercise in Rajouri

Rajouri, Jul 17: The Indian Army’s Ace of Spades Division headed by Major General Kaushik Mukherjee General Officer Commanding (GOC) conducted a joint disaster management exercise.

The exercise was held in order to ensure in-depth inter-agency coordination and preparations towards untoward situations of disasters.

This exercise was conducted at Ace of Spades Division headquarters with officers of district administration Rajouri, doctors and administrative officers of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, officers of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) as well as State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) alongwith officers of Indian Army attended this exercise.

The event was primarily focused on strengthening the inter-agency coordination to deal with the situation that may arise if any disaster hits this area of Pir Panjal region.

During this exercise, simulated scenarios of earthquake, chemical spill and terror attack were showcased and discussions were held for seamless inter-agency coordination.

The GOC Ace of Spades Division, Major General Kaushik Mukherjee stressed on the importance of regular rehearsals, gap analysis and implementation of mitigation measures.

The Pir Panjal region, particularly the Rajouri and Poonch districts, is widely regarded as a disaster-sensitive zone, where flash floods have increasingly become the norm, causing extensive loss of life and property.
