Army Chief eyes tech overhaul along LoC

Srinagar, Apr 8: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi Tuesday visited forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir to assess the prevailing security situation and assessed the overall operational preparedness in Srinagar.

In Srinagar, COAS was briefed about overall operational preparedness by General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lt General Prashant Srivastava.

During his visit to forward posts in north Kashmir, General Dwivedi interacted with officers and soldiers stationed at various forward locations, lauding their unwavering dedication and resilience while operating under extremely challenging and hostile conditions.

The COAS was briefed by field commanders on the overall security scenario, counter-infiltration grid, and measures being undertaken to ensure peace and stability in Kashmir.

General Dwivedi during the interaction, commended the troops for maintaining a high level of operational alertness and morale amid adverse weather and terrain.

He appreciated their efforts in safeguarding the nation’s borders and thwarting infiltration attempts by terrorist elements.

Underscoring the importance of technological advancement in modern warfare, the Army Chief stressed the need for integrating cutting-edge technology into day-to-day operations to enhance surveillance, intelligence-gathering, and response capabilities.

“Technology will act as a force multiplier in countering both existing and emerging security threats along the LoC,” he said.

The Army Chief also urged the troops to remain ever vigilant, citing the dynamic nature of threats, including cross-border infiltration, the use of drones, and other unconventional tactics.

He reiterated the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining peace in J&K while ensuring a robust counter-terrorism posture.
