Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu says distribution of welfare pensions should begin at 7 a.m. and be completed by 6 p.m.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has emphasised that there should be no negligence, corruption or inefficiency in the implementation of government welfare schemes. He instructed officials to ensure that public feedback is continuously collected and used to refine government programmes.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister examined reports from various sources, including IVRS surveys and QR code-based feedback, on key welfare initiatives. These included pension distribution, Anna Canteens, fertilizer supply, public healthcare services, and RTC bus transport. He directed officials to address any complaints raised by beneficiaries, whether about pension delivery issues, free gas cylinder distribution under the Deepam scheme, or dissatisfaction with hospital services.
Mr. Naidu stressed the need for direct engagement with beneficiaries who express grievances. He called for a case-by-case analysis of complaints to determine whether issues stem from systemic failures or individual misconduct. He made it clear that while mistakes should be rectified, negligence and corruption would not be tolerated. Specifically, he ordered strict action against any gas agency found engaging in corrupt practices.
‘Reduce use of chemical fertilizers’
During a separate review on fertilizer supply, the Chief Minister discussed the need to reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. He urged officials to educate farmers about alternative farming techniques and the benefits of technology-driven agriculture.
Mr. Naidu cited Punjab as an example where excessive pesticide use has led to a rise in cancer cases, warning that Andhra Pradesh should avoid similar risks. He suggested adopting modern spraying techniques, such as drone-based liquid fertilizer application, to minimise chemical use while maintaining agricultural productivity. He also called for data-driven analysis of fertilizer and pesticide consumption patterns based on crop type, region and farmer needs.
Addressing concerns over pension distribution, the Chief Minister directed that the process should begin at 7 a.m. and be completed by 6 p.m. He clarified that there was no need to start as early as 5 or 6 a.m., as long as pensions were delivered efficiently.
Mr. Naidu reiterated that the doorstep pension delivery system should be strictly followed. However, in cases where pensions are delivered at alternative locations—such as fields or hospitals—officials should analyse the reasons and ensure there are no complaints from beneficiaries. He also instructed government employees to treat pensioners with respect and ensure a smooth and dignified distribution process.
