Rysa Panday, the younger sister of Bollywood actor Ananya Panday, is all set to make her grand debut at the prestigious Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris this Saturday. Following in her sister’s footsteps, who debuted at the ball in 2017, Rysa will don an exquisite gown by renowned Lebanese designer Elie Saab for this year’s gala at the iconic Hôtel de Crillon.
On Tuesday, the official Instagram page of Le Bal shared glimpses of Rysa trying on Elie Saab creations, sparking an outpouring of love and admiration from her family and friends. Ananya Panday, who debuted at 19, gushed over her sister’s pictures, calling her a “real-life princess” with heart-eye emojis. Close friends of Ananya, including Suhana Khan and Shanaya Kapoor, also expressed their admiration with comments like “Most beautiful Rysa” and “Princess.” Their mother, Bhavana Panday, shared her pride, calling Rysa her “prettiest baby girl.”
What is Le Bal des Débutantes?
Le Bal des Débutantes, often referred to as Le Bal is one of the most exclusive social events in the world. Founded in 1992 by Ophelie Renouard, the gala introduces young women from elite families to society, symbolising their entry into the social and philanthropic scene, much like what was customary in European countries until only a century ago.
Each year, young debutantes, known as “debs,” are selected from prominent families worldwide, representing diverse cultures and traditions. They are paired with “cavaliers,” young men from similar families, and showcased during the evening’s grand waltz.
The proceeds from the 2024 ball will benefit two charitable organisations: The Seleni Institute, which supports maternal mental health, and Enfants d’Asie, which provides education to underprivileged children in Southeast Asia.
Over the years, several young women from prominent Indian families have debuted at the Le Bal des Débutantes. Some of the notable debutantes include Shloka Birla, from the Birla business dynasty, and Princess Gauravi Kumari of Jaipur, a member of the royal family of Jaipur.
