AIIMS Delhi team collects fresh samples

Rajouri, Feb 2: A team of doctors, medical experts from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi continued their investigation into the mysterious deaths in Badhaal village of Rajouri district for the second consecutive day on Sunday.

The team, which arrived in Rajouri on Saturday, has been tasked to conduct a thorough medical investigation into the deaths of 17 people in the area, besides reviewing the health condition of 11 patients undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.

On Sunday, the team met some members of the families of the deceased and gathered crucial information about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Officials said that the team also visited Badhaal village, where they collected various samples, including water and soil samples, which would help in their investigation.

The team also opened the sealed house of Muhammad Aslam, who lost his six children and maternal uncle and aunt during the spate of mysterious deaths.

AIIMS experts said to have collected some samples from the sealed house for further examination.

The AIIMS team’s investigation is focused on identifying the underlying cause of the mysterious deaths, which have sent shockwaves across the community.

The team, officials stated, also visited the separation facility in GMC Rajouri where they met and questioned Muhammad Aslam, Aijaz Ahmed, Muhammad Aslam, and other local villagers who lost members of their families.

The outcome of the investigation is eagerly awaited, and the people of Rajouri are hopeful that different teams that have visited the area and the district in the recent days will be able to uncover the truth behind the mysterious deaths.

On the other hand, a team of PGI Chandigarh, that visited Rajouri and camped here for three days, returned on Sunday.

The team reportedly also collected many samples, which would be put to investigation and analysis.
