Advocates needn’t wear black coats in dist, trial courts in summer, ET LegalWorld

Acting on representations from Advocates’ Association of Bengaluru and Karnataka State Bar Council, the high court exempted lawyers practising at district and trial courts from wearing black coats from March 15 till May 31 (both days inclusive) while appearing for court proceedings.

However, wearing a white shirt with a white band hasn’t been exempted. A decision to this effect was taken at a high court meeting on March 7.

On March 3, AAB submitted a representation for granting exemption from wearing black coats during summer. Karnataka State Bar Council submitted a similar representation one day later.
