Jammu, Feb 17: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday asserted that all operations, being undertaken to completely annihilate terrorism and its ecosystem, in J&K would continue relentlessly; giving no breather (to terrorists and supporters).
He was responding to media queries, after inaugurating the first edition of Sikh Cricket Premier League at Jammu University.
“Indian Army is fully competent to take on the challenges along the borders. I believe that it (the Army) is giving a befitting reply (to the enemy); in equal measure and kind. It is working in perfect synergy with the Jammu Kashmir Police and other security forces,” LG Sinha said, in response to a question about the emerging situation of concern along the Line of Control (LoC), witnessing skirmishes due to hostile activities from across the border.
“More importantly, they (security forces) have been given unambiguous instructions that they have to go full throttle against terrorism to annihilate it (terrorism) and also to fully eliminate its ecosystem, come what may,” he said.
In the same breath, LG Sinha reiterated that the operations to wipe out terrorism and its support system would be unrelenting.
“Mind it, all related actions (counter-terrorism operations) to achieve these avowed objectives will continue in an unrelenting manner; offering no breather (to inimical elements). Action will be incessant, unremitting. I believe that establishing peace and safety in J&K is and should be the topmost priority,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Earlier, while addressing the gathering, LG Sinha reiterated that development could not be possible without peace. “To make the J&K, a part of the national renaissance, due to revolutionary transformation being witnessed across the country, it is imperative to follow the right path, which will take us forward – to peace, prosperity and development. I always reiterate that development is not possible without peace. They complement each other. However, this is not the mere responsibility of the government and Police administration only. All responsible citizens share the responsibility to contribute on this account to establish peace,” he asserted.
LG Sinha stated that in recent years, the middle class across the country has grown and expanded up to 31 percent of the (country’s) population due to young aspiring entrepreneurs.
“In terms of skilled manpower in the next ten years, India will contribute up to 25 percent in the supply of skilled workforce. By 2030, India’s ‘working age’ population will be more than 10 billion. India has the maximum number of mobile users. 627 million people in India are using the internet, almost twice the population of the United States. India is at the number one slot in the case of digital payments, covering almost 46 percent of transactions across the world,” he said.
About J&K, LG Sinha stated that it (J&K) was also, as compared to other states in the country, quite ahead in terms of digital transactions and in terms of data consumption also, J&K’s percentage is higher than the national average.
