Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Abhishek Sharma inspected the progress of construction works on National Highway stretch from Gaghwal to Bari Brahmana.
During the visit, Aditional Deputy Commissioner Samba, Suresh C Sharma, SSP Traffic, police, and Officers of NHAI were also present.
On-spot directions were issued by the Deputy Commissioner to the construction companies to expedite the pace of construction works on the Highway stretch before the commencement of Amarnath Yatra and also to redress the problems faced by general public while traveling on this route. He directed to prioritise the construction works and identify all the potholes, fill them within 07 days and also intall signboards at diversions.
DC Samba informed that 26 lodgement centres have been set up at different locations in district Samba for ease of yatris which can be used as transit camps
The work of fly-over bridges at some locations was also reviewed and construction companies were instructed to expedite the same in a planned way so that these are completed as per timelines. Further, the Deputy Commissioner has formed Sub Division level committees headed by concerned SDMs to monitor works of construction companies and to resolve issues of public as well as construction companies.
