Kargil, May 3: The BJP unit in Leh on Friday put up a united face during an election rally held in support of the Ladakh parliamentary seat candidate Tashi Gyalson after a brief discontent within it.
Sitting Member of Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal was upset with the BJP for denying him mandate from the constituency. He had developed serious differences with the party and earlier decided to contest as an Independent candidate. However, on the intervention of senior party leaders he returned to join the election campaigning for Tashi Gyalson, the BJP nominated candidate for Ladakh Lok Sabha seat.
The united face after the presence of Jamyang Tsering Namgayal along with his supporters ended the day’s of rift within BJP in Ladakh.
Sources said that Jamyang Tsering Namgyal was convinced and persuaded by the senior leaders including BJP General Secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, former minister Sat Sharma and BJP state president Ladakh Phunchok Stanzin who had a meeting with the upset Namgyal before he agreed to join the campaigning.
On Friday, T Namgyal joined a massive rally held in support of the BJP Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency candidate Tashi Gyalson. Hundreds of supporters attended the rally.
On the occasion, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said that he had not left the party, but it was a small disagreement that was aimed to run the party smoothly. I will strive hard to make Adv Tashi Gyalson triumphed with a huge majority in the election,” said sitting Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.
Speaking to media Namgyal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has taught them to keep nation first, party second and self-third and following the party values he compromised on his self-interest and joined the party campaign. He said that he will strive hard in the campaigning process to make the nominated candidate Advocate Tashi Gyaltson win the Lok Sabha elections. ” Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Sh. @narendramodi Ji, I am confident that Sh. Tashi Gyalson Ji, the BJP Candidate for Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency, will carry forward the journey towards a #ViksitBharatViksitLadakh” Jamyang Tsering Namgyal posted on X after the election campaigning.
On the occasion, Tashi Gyalson said that they had strived together for the party and will continue to strive for the party and for the largest benefit of the nation particularly Ladakh.
Notably, BJP won Ladakh Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and 2019. In 2014, Thupstan Chhewang won the seat for the BJP while in 2019, Jamyang Tsering Namgayal emerged the winner. The BJP this time replaced Namgayal with Tashi Gyalson.
On the other hand, the Congress who is facing split within party has fielded Tsering Namgyal as its official candidate for Ladakh Lok Sabha seat. Congress unit of Kargil has however supported National Conference leader Haji Hanifa Jan as the joint candidate for Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency.
