Lucknow: In a key bureaucratic reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh government has appointed 1990-batch IAS officer Archana Agrawal as the Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) and Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). Agrawal returned from central deputation on October 16, 2025, after being deputed to the Centre in February 2016.
Agrawal earlier served as Transport Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh in 2009–10. With this appointment, the Transport Department will now be headed by two women officers, as Kinjal Singh took charge as Transport Commissioner last month.
Meanwhile, Amit Kumar Gupta, a 2000-batch IAS officer who was holding the additional charge of Principal Secretary, Transport Department, and Chairman, UPSRTC, has been relieved of these responsibilities. He will continue as Principal Secretary, Stamps and Registration.
The latest reshuffle highlights the government’s emphasis on administrative efficiency and greater representation of women officers in key leadership roles. With Agrawal and Singh leading the Transport Department, the state aims to enhance governance and streamline operations within the sector.
