Samsung may revive the Galaxy S26 Plus after poor Galaxy S25 Edge sales: Report | Technology News

In the last few months, rumours had it that Samsung was considering dropping the Galaxy S26 Plus in favour of a new, slim iPhone Air-like phone called the Galaxy S26 Edge.

However, a new report by the South Korean publication The Elec suggests the tech giant is working on a Galaxy S26 series phone due to the “sluggish sales” of the Galaxy S25 Edge launched earlier this year.

According to the machine-translated version of the report, Samsung had planned three Galaxy S26 phones – one vanilla, an Edge model alongside the Ultra model. But now, “multiple parts industry insiders” working for the tech giant have already started developing the “M Plus” model, which it claims refers to the Plus variant in the soon-to-be-launched Galaxy S26 series.

It goes on to say that since Samsung is already working on projects codenamed M1, M2 and M3, the addition of M Plus indicates that the Galaxy S26 series may have four devices. Since its launch back in June, Galaxy S25 Edge sales have plummeted, and Samsung has already scaled back the phone’s production.

The report claims that the S25 Edge’s planned production volume will be in the low 300,000s from September to December, which is in contrast to the production volume of the Galaxy S25 Plus, which sits in the low 500,000s. In a post on X, known tipster Jukanlosreve says that although the Galaxy S25 Plus had the smallest production target, selling one million units less has a significant impact on the company’s mobile division revenue.

To give you a quick recap, the Galaxy S25 Edge is packed with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, but because of its slim profile, it quickly throttled and got hot under heavy or graphically intensive workloads. Samsung also had to make some compromises in the camera department by removing the telephoto shooter and limiting the battery capacity to just 3,900mAh, which means it could hardly last a full day.
