Netflix has dropped its official list of the top 10 most-streamed movies ever. After months of holding the crown since release, KPop Demon Hunters has knocked out every classic the streamer once flexed, starting with cult favourite Red Notice. Nobody saw it coming, an animated film out for just over two months is already the OTT’s most-watched original movie of all time. The rankings are measured by total views in the first 91 days of release. Here’s the top 10.
Netflix unveils the top 10 most-streamed movies of all time
KPop Demon Hunter: Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans’ animated film, born out of K-pop and animation culture, has pulled in 236 million views and 393.3 million hours watched, according to official Netflix data. The craze was so intense and unexpected that it sparked its own cinematic movement, landing a limited theatrical run where it even topped the U.S. box office. Packed with original soundtracks from Korean artists, including the smash hit Golden, which climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and pushed others onto the Billboard 200, the movie set a new benchmark. It’s the first time an animated project has achieved this level of success in OTT history. And with weeks still left before its 91-day cutoff, its dominance is only set to rise.
Red Notice: With 230.9 million views and 454.2 million hours watched, Red Notice (2021), once the unshakable No. 1 on Netflix’s chart, has now slipped to second place. Made on a massive $200 million budget, the action-comedy starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds still holds the title of Netflix’s most expensive film to date. A sequel is already in the works. The plot revolves around the high-stakes world of international crime, with an Interpol agent chasing down the world’s most wanted art thief.
Carry On: With 172.1 million views and 344.1 million hours watched, Jaume Collet-Serra’s thriller, starring Taron Egerton, Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, and Jason Bateman, follows a blackmailed TSA agent forced to let a secret operative onto a Christmas Eve flight with 250 passengers. Released on Netflix in 2024, it climbed the charts in no time. The throwback thriller broke records as the platform’s biggest first-week performer and still holds strong at No. 3 on the all-time most-streamed list.
Don’t Look Up: With 171.4 million views and 408.6 million hours watched, Adam McKay’s American political satire black comedy, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, and more, scored four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. The film also set Netflix records upon release. Revolving around a doctoral candidate in astronomy at Michigan State who tries to warn humanity about a comet destined to wipe out Earth, it now holds the No. 4 spot on the all-time chart.
