Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Semicon India 2025 today (on September 2) at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, marking another milestone in India’s pursuit of semiconductor self-reliance and global leadership in chip technology.
The three-day conference, scheduled from September 2–4, will bring together more than 20,750 participants, including 2,500 international delegates from over 48 countries, 150 eminent speakers, and more than 350 exhibitors. On September 3, the Prime Minister will also participate in a high-profile CEOs roundtable to deliberate on investment opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Focus on India’s Semiconductor Roadmap
This year’s edition of Semicon India is designed to catalyse a robust, resilient, and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem in the country. The conference agenda includes discussions on semiconductor fabrication (fabs), advanced packaging projects, infrastructure readiness, smart manufacturing, cutting-edge R&D, and applications of artificial intelligence.
Key sessions will highlight India’s progress under the Semicon India Programme, state-level policy initiatives, and opportunities for global collaboration. Dedicated tracks will showcase the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, India’s growing startup ecosystem, workforce development, and international cooperation.
Global Participation and Industry Showcases
The event will feature six country roundtable discussions and exclusive pavilions for startups, workforce development, and international collaborations. Over 50 global technology leaders are expected to share insights, reinforcing India’s emergence as a preferred hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development.
Semicon conferences are held worldwide to spotlight technological advancements and policy frameworks shaping the semiconductor industry. Since its inception in 2022, Semicon India has grown into a flagship platform for advancing India’s vision of becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse. Earlier editions were hosted in Bengaluru (2022), Gandhinagar (2023), and Greater Noida (2024).
Yearly Semicon Conferences
“Prime Minister Modi has given a call of Reform, Perform and Transform. The fourth edition of Semicon India marks the beginning of the ‘Perform” phase of this national endeavour. Four more facilities have been sanctioned last month looking at packaging, Silicon Carbide, discrete semiconductors and 3D glass. The Micron facility which was approved in June 2023 is nearing completion,” Col Anurag Awasthi, Policy Expert in Semiconductors and Critical Technologies said.
“The approved facilities in Dholera & Sanand in Gujarat along with Jagi Road in Assam are being developed along with workforce development and logistic requirements in tandem. Production Linked Incentive (PLI) will further increase the overall MSME base by creation of both upstream as well as downstream value chains and anchor units,” Awasthi said.
“While the Semicon conference brings leading stakeholders from all over the world, we need to focus on India and give impetus to home grown entities by incentives, more private sector participation and collaborations. The focus has to be on development of ‘Product’ and ‘IPR’ aspects,” Awasthi added.
Building India’s Chip Future
With Semicon India 2025, the government aims to accelerate momentum towards its goal of positioning India as a global hub for semiconductors – a sector seen as central to national security, economic competitiveness, and technological innovation.
As Prime Minister Modi takes the stage at Yashobhoomi, the spotlight will be firmly on India’s resolve to build a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem that can serve not just domestic needs but also contribute to resilient global supply chains.
