The Tripura Police Thursday arrested a woman for allegedly throwing acid on her husband at Sidhai in West Tripura district.
The accused woman, identified as Sumitra Debbarma, aged 29-30 years old, was arrested from her parentsтАЩ home.
According to the complaint, the accused suddenly threw acid on her spouse, Shibaji Debbarma, while they were riding a motorcycle on their way to Sumitra DebbarmaтАЩs parental home on Wednesday.
Shibaji Debbarma, 38, sustained burn injuries and started screaming. Later, some locals rushed him to the Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) hospital in Agartala. His condition was reportedly stable.
тАЬA complaint was filed by the mother of the acid attack survivor, based on which we registered a case. We arrested the woman today,тАЭ said a police officer.
The officer stated that, as per their initial investigation, the attack was a result of a domestic dispute.
