Jammu, Aug 5: Police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler with heroin-like substance in the Ghatti area of Kathua district, besides seizing the vehicle used in the commission of the offence.
On August 4, 2025, a team from Outpost Ghatti led by PSI Rajat Kotwal set up a special naka at Dawal near the railway track on the Sakta Chak-Ghatti road.
“During the naka, one white-coloured Renault Duster, bearing registration number JK02BD/1205, was intercepted by the swift action of a police party. Upon questioning and during search, 11.45 grams of heroin (chitta)-like substance, foil paper, a lighter, a mobile phone and cash were recovered from the driver of the vehicle, identified as Dheeraj Choudhary, son of Janak Raj, resident of Kothey, R S Pura Jammu,” police said.
In this regard a case FIR No 382/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station, Kathua, and further investigation was initiated.
Operation was part of police efforts against the drug menace under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Shobhit Saxena.
