Jammu, Aug 3: As part of the Indian Army’s national outreach and awareness campaign, a talk on “Operation Sindoor” was delivered by Commander, Chenab Brigade at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu on August 2, 2025.
The interaction was organised under the aegis of Tiger Division and was attended by the Director, faculty members and students of IIT, Jammu.
The initiative aimed at spreading awareness about India’s whole-of-nation approach to counter-terrorism, the professionalism of the Armed Forces, and the strategic clarity that underpinned Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
The session concluded with a question and answer session where students expressed keen interest in national security, strategic affairs and the evolving nature of warfare.
Besides, the Army also organised an inspiring motivational lecture on “Women empowerment, career opportunities, and evolving innovation requirements in the Indian Army” at IIT, Jammu on Saturday (August 2, 2025).
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 200 students and faculty.
The session was led by Col Meenal Chauhan in uniform, who shared personal stories of resilience, leadership and service.
Col Chauhan highlighted the evolving role of women in the Indian Armed Forces – ranging from combat support roles to opportunities in engineering, cyber operations and strategic leadership.
The audience was briefed on various entry schemes for women, including the National Defence Academy (NDA), Short Service Commission (SSC) and Technical Entry routes.
“Additionally, the session focused on the Indian Army’s growing emphasis on technological innovation, artificial intelligence, and robotics as critical areas where youth, especially women can contribute meaningfully to national security,” said PRO Defence Lt Col Suneel Bartwal.
“The lecture aimed to empower young minds with knowledge, instil confidence and encourage participation in nation-building through a career in the Armed Forces. The initiative was well-received and appreciated by the community for fostering awareness, promoting gender equality and showcasing the Indian Army as a dynamic and inclusive institution,” PRO Defence said.
