Army rescues injured after bus skids near gorge in Rajouri

Rajouri, Aug 2: At least 40 passengers had a narrow escape Saturday morning after a bus skidded off the road and nearly plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

The incident occurred as the bus was traveling from Gambhir Mughalan to Rajouri.

The vehicle reportedly lost control and veered close to the edge of a 300-foot-deep river gorge before coming to a stop just inches away from the drop.

Troops from the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles battalion, part of the Romeo Force stationed at Gambhir camp for Baba Budha Amarnath Yatra duties, quickly responded. The soldiers launched a rescue operation and administered first aid to around 12 passengers who suffered minor injuries.

Local residents praised the Army’s swift action, crediting it with preventing panic and ensuring timely medical help.
