Dr R Ravi Babu has taken over as the Chief General Manager (CGM) of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Rajasthan Regional Office, Jaipur.
With over 26 years of experience in agriculture and rural development, Dr Babu is recognised for his grassroots understanding, technical acumen, and policy-level leadership. An alumnus of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, he holds Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Agricultural Engineering.
Dr Babu has held various key positions across NABARD offices in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, and at the Head Office in Mumbai. He has played a vital role in developing and implementing programmes that drive rural transformation.
Widely regarded for his expertise in Natural Resource Management, Dr Babu has actively promoted climate-resilient agriculture, natural farming, water budgeting, and the application of geospatial technologies in development projects. His experience also includes credit planning, infrastructure development, capacity building, and oversight of rural financial institutions.
His appointment is expected to lend fresh impetus to NABARD’s efforts in Rajasthan, particularly in driving sustainable, inclusive growth in the state’s rural economy.
